"I am a storyteller, and I love stories. My work usually has an aspect of implied history, both through the use of the figure as well as objects that are a part of my "home" collections. The figures have a tendency to be slightly off balance, or passing from one reality to another. There is oftentimes an attempt at an unrealized form of danger, close, in fact, to the real world... an emotional, sometimes physical precariousness. It seems to be a way of seeking clarity and identity through a parallel of sense of isolation."
Storer taught at the San Francisco Art Institute, Sonoma State University, San Francisco State University, and the College of Marin. She has received numerous grants and awards, including a Pollock-Krasner Foundation grant, the Buck Fund Grant, and has worked twice as an artist in residence at the American Academy in Rome. Her work is included in the permanent collections of the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco, the Oakland Museum of California, the Lannan Museum in Fort Worth, Texas, the San Jose Museum of Art, and the de Saisset Museum at Santa Clara University.
